Eco-friendly, Designing for a future generation!

As the world becomes increasingly aware of the benefits of being eco-friendly and the impact it will have in our communities in the long term, we see more and more designers taking the initiative to make their collections to a new level of lowering their ecological impact. How Fish leather is produced-The process of making fish leather required less chemicals to process and remove the scales, rather than the fur from animal hides. Therefore the byproducts of fish leather have a smaller impact on the globe.

 A recent innovative use of salmon leather is brought to us by the one and only Isaac Mizrahi with his lovely creation of a silk chiffon based dress and jacket and covered with a beautiful soft ivory fish leather paillettes.

Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi created a salmon-leather ensemble that consists of a short dress worn with a long jacket that trails on the floor like a mermaid tail. Mizrahi commissioned a Parisian artisan to turn pelts of salmon leather into paillettes, sequin-like disks that are sewn by hand to a layer of fabric. Rather than use dyed leather, Mizrahi embraced the material’s natural ivory color.
